Board Member Spotlight: Director, Joe Hanson 

This month, WCMA is proud to spotlight Joe Hanson, President of Elipticon Wood Products in Kimberly, Wisconsin. A member of WCMA for five years, Elipticon Wood Products is one of our valued employee-owned companies and has been actively engaged since day one—with consistent board representation and a strong presence at in-person events.

Joe’s journey in the woodworking industry began in 1999, when a help wanted ad caught his eye just three months before high school graduation. “I figured since I wasn’t going to college, I needed to get a job,” Joe recalls. “I always liked woods class.” That leap of faith led to a 25-year career at Elipticon, where he now serves as President.

When asked why it’s important for businesses to stay active in trade associations, Joe doesn’t hesitate: “It’s the networking. The woodworking associations we belong to are full of great people.” Over the years, Elipticon team members have attended hundreds of meetings, tours, conventions, and seminars—each one offering fresh ideas and new connections.

Outside of work, Joe’s favorite role is being a dad. He and his wife have four children, and family time is at the heart of his off-hours. Together, they enjoy volunteering at church, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, 4-wheeling, and swimming.

Joe’s commitment to community—both within WCMA and at home—embodies the spirit of collaboration and connection that drives our association forward. We’re grateful for his leadership and proud to have Elipticon Wood Products as part of the WCMA family.
